Like many, maybe you plan to get Invisalign as one of your 2025 resolutions. It’s certainly a good idea – the procedure would straighten out your crooked grin in just a year! Still, try to prepare for the Invisalign process before you actually start it; you’ll have a smoother treatment that way. Your Holliston dentist can even help you with these early efforts. To that end, here’s a primer on four ways to prepare for Invisalign treatment.

Brush (& Floss) More

If you’ll be starting Invisalign soon, get in the habit of brushing (and flossing) after every meal. This early practice will make the aligning process simpler for you.

Remember, bacteria and food can easily cling to aligners. Skipping your teeth cleaning lets this debris gather on your trays, risking your smile. However, regular post-meal brushing removes the bacteria and other “leftovers” before they can cause any harm. Starting the practice now will make it natural and seamless once treatment starts.

Get Clear Aligner Tools

Your dentist should provide you with a storage case for your aligners. That said, you’d do well to buy other great Invisalign tools before you get the trays.

Over the last few years, companies have come up with many helpful aligner items. One example is the removal tools that keep trays from sticking to your smile. Similarly, many supermarkets and pharmacies offer Invisalign “chewies” – small devices that remove air bubbles from your aligners. Using these cylinders should improve your trays’ overall fit.

Cut Down on Snacks

Invisalign doesn’t restrict you from certain foods, but you should quit snacking to prepare for treatment. Between-meal eating won’t make your treatment any easier.

You see, Invisalign requires you to wear its trays for 20-22 hours a day. That’s the amount of time it needs to straighten your teeth within a one-year timeframe. Given this reality, too much snacking would keep the trays off too long and delay treatment results. You’ll want to break that habit before you start wearing aligners in the first place.

Review Your Invisalign Budget

Last but not least, you should prep for Invisalign by reviewing your budget. This effort should make financing your treatment a simpler matter.

As part of your review, consider your local dentist’s helpful payment options. Many practices accept dental plans that partly cover Invisalign treatment. At the same time, others offer flexible financing through 3rd party lenders like CareCredit or Cherry Payment Plans. Some dentists even provide in-house membership plans that include discounts on orthodontics.

The points above are only a few ways to prepare for Invisalign treatment. To learn about others, consult your local dentist or orthodontist.
